Case Study: Superior Soundproofing with SONOPan Panels at Country Pop 103.1FM

103.1 Country Pop

Overview

Country Pop 103.1FM, a popular radio station based in Louiseville, Québec, faced the challenge of relocating to a new facility to accommodate upgraded equipment and improve broadcast quality. Jonathan Cyrenne, the station’s Director, saw the opportunity to redesign the soundproof partitions for the four radio studios during the move. The main objective was to create an environment with minimal sound transfer to ensure crystal clear broadcasts, free from external noise intrusion. Achieving this required a professional grade soundproofing solution that met the strict performance standards demanded in modern radio production.

Solution

Jonathan partnered with contractor Eric Arsivais of Groupe Arsivais to implement a “room within a room” construction approach — a method known for drastically reducing sound transmission. Using SONOpan soundproofing panels on all sides of the studio structure, including both faces of the double stud wall, they created a multi layer system. Each wall incorporated four layers of SONOpan combined with dense rock wool insulation between the studs to maximize sound absorption.

Results

The results impressed both the station and contractors. The combination of SONOpan panels and other materials delivered exceptional noise isolation, earning praise from Jonathan Cyrenne: “The soundproofing is worthy of the biggest radio stations.”

Applications

Beyond radio stations, SONOpan panels are trusted in a wide range of noise sensitive environments. Music studios, podcast booths, and home theaters benefit from their ability to block and absorb sound effectively. Commercial uses include boardrooms and office spaces where confidentiality matters, while residential projects such as basements, bedrooms, and multi unit dwellings gain improved privacy and comfort. Easy to install, eco friendly, and reliable, SONOpan is a proven choice for both renovations and new builds, offering an efficient path to superior sound isolation.
