DynoJet Motorcycle Dyno Soundproofing in Barrie

Overview

DynoJet in Barrie faced a design challenge installing a motorcycle dyno for high intensity stress testing. Operating inside a standard commercial unit, the facility shares walls with neighboring businesses. The goal was implementing commercial soundproofing for high decibel noise to ensure volume did not disrupt tenants. A roof vent created a potential escape point for airborne sound, requiring a solution that protected the area while allowing for full testing performance. With limited floor area, the owner needed a thinner, effective barrier instead of a traditional double stud wall to protect nearby businesses.

Solution

To achieve maximum reduction without losing square footage, a high density multi layered wall system was engineered. This is a perfect example of commercial soundproofing for high decibel noise in tight quarters where thick walls are not viable. The assembly included 5/8 inch Type X Gypsum, SONOpan panels, and resilient channels on steel studs with insulation. By applying SONOpan on both sides and doubling the resilient channels, the team prevented vibration from transferring through the structure. This combination of mass and isolation is essential for blocking airborne noise and structural vibrations while keeping the wall slim.

Results

The system performed exceptionally well. During stress tests, noise inside reached 140 to 150 dB, similar to a jet engine at takeoff. Outside, readings averaged 90 dB, a drop of 50 to 60 dB. This proves that density and smart design can outperform thick wall builds when managing commercial soundproofing for high decibel noise. The system maintained safe conditions for staff while ensuring neighbors remained undisturbed. These results confirm that high performance sound management is possible in demanding commercial environments, allowing the facility to operate at full capacity without complaints.

Applications

This project proves that slim profile, high density assemblies solve serious challenges in small spaces. By combining SONOpan panels and resilient channels, DynoJet Barrie managed commercial soundproofing for high decibel noise within a standard unit. It offers a model for contractors seeking efficient control without sacrificing floor area. This assembly provides a reliable blueprint for any facility needing to contain extreme sound levels within a shared environment. Whether building a testing facility or workshop, this high density approach ensures maximum isolation with a minimal footprint. This proves massive, thick walls are not required for professional results.
