Work Done by GW Home Improvements Niagara Falls
Noise complaints resulting in poor ratings hindered the profitability of this Airbnb property. The primary concern was noise from impact sound caused by footfall. The owners wanted to improve the soundproofing between the floors without having to remove the existing parquet flooring.
Cameron Carr of GW Home Improvements suggested installing SONOpanX, an eco-friendly soundproofing panel on top of the existing flooring. Roughly 50 sheets of 4’x4′ SONOpanX were installed over the entire floor. The installation process was quick and easy and caused minimal disruption to the customer’s schedule.
The SONOpanX installation significantly reduced impact noise transfer, eliminating most of the thumping sounds caused by footfall. The solution created a higher IIC (Impact Insulation Class) and STC (Sound Transmission Class) rating between the floors. The elevated STC rating also improved the airborne sound transfer, such as voices and TV sounds. The customer was pleased with the results and reported a very noticeable improvement in the overall sound comfort of the space.
